Scotts Miracle-Gro products are known for zapping weeds dead. But it turns out they could be killing decidedly more attractive creatures -- birds.
Scotts pled guilty this Tuesday to charges that the company illegally put insecticides in its “Morning Song” and “Country Pride” brands of bird seed. That’s right: The company knowingly coated products intended for birds to eat with substances toxic to birds and wildlife.
This is utterly horrifying; I had to share.
It’s so horrifying. I doubt they’ll really get punished, too. $4million+$500K isn’t that much to a company as big as that company.
You’re absolutely right of course – the bigwigs get away with everything and that sort of money is loose change to them.
When you consider that – at a rough estimate – around about 730 million birds were poisoned they were let off bloody lightly. Some of those birds are already on the danger list!
I have never used Scotts products, and now I never will.
It makes me sick. They should be put out of business but of course they won’t be.

That’s so sick and horrible. What on earth goes on in someone’s mind to lead them to do something like that? I hope the court hands down a very severe sentence indeed.
Sadly, if you read the full article, the millions they were made to pay out is just a slap-on-the-wrist fine to Fat Cats like them.
Why would they even do something like this? It’s pure, unmitigated evil!
