As I wander around the Blogosphere I can’t help but notice that there are a good many bloggers with Facebook fan pages.
I’ve created one now – it’s HERE, but now that it exists I have no idea what to do with it!
If you are one of the many who have such a page, I’d love to know why you created one and what you use it for. Does it bring more readers to your blog? What other benefits does it give you?
Any thoughts and tips greatly appreciated!

He he I will b watching the comments. As u know I’ve done the same thing. I did it cos I think there r a lot of pple who don’t use twitter & it’s just another means of sharing. As 2 what I will do with the page – I will share the blog posts, obviously, I will probably also share other links 2 articles & other blogs etc as I do twitter & it’s another op 2 rec. comments. Also. 4 me it is about trying 2 b anon. To give the kids privacy which is harder 2 do through my personal profile. Good idea to pose the question. PS I will check out your page xx
Thanks – I’ve “liked” yours
I’ve liked your page! I made a page for my blog too recently but I don’t do much with it yet. I’m just about to do a blog post about it myself to let people know about it. I intend to use it to share interesting links. I’ve used networked blogs to publish my latest posts to it, so if people want to keep up with my blog it’s another way for them to do so. I’ve not shared it with my ‘real life’ friends yet though, most of them don’t know about the blog!
I’ve already got your page “liked” on my main account so it’s not letting me connect with my “official” page. I added your main to mine though
Hi. I have a FB page for my friends and family who don’t follow my blog through WordPress, as I always publish there and it’s easier for them to see it. You have to invite people to like your page, either through FB, Twitter or your blog: it’s another way of ‘spreading the word’.
Good luck!
Thanks – I’ve put the link up on my main FB page for friends and family who don’t have/follow WordPress
All fixed now! Thank you.
Ooop! I fear I might have declined your request for friendship on FB just now as I didn’t recognise your name and I don’t like to accept strangers on it. If it was you, please try again and I’ll accept. SORRY!
No problem – will try again.
I’ve made the same mistake myself, so there’s no need to apologise
I don’t have a page, myself – but I have ‘liked’ yours…
Thank you
I have deleted FB profiles twice. It’s too much noise and chaos for me. I did recently begin a profile for the connection with a small Japanese Chin rescue in order to keep up with incoming and adopted rescue chin. And no, it did not up my blog traffic one bit. I was surprised about that. This was when I had over 200 friends on my profile. I just found FB to be a giant drain of my time and energy, not to mention the noise from others posts that I found absolutely ridiculous. Many people think they need to tell friends about every little detail of their day… and some are very negative. It just got to be too much noise and chaos for me.
I will friend you though, on my limited profile. Deer and dog people are pretty cool!
There are not enough deer or dog people out there!
I had never thought about having a facebook page for my blog but it might be a good idea… assuming it would reach different people than the ones I already reach. I’ll have to think about it!
I don’t think it ever hurts to try and target a wider audience if you’re writing about something important – and you definitely are
i have made a page but i am having trouble getting past that big. anyone kind enough to tell me how to fill in the fields on the widget?
FB takes you through it step by step. I found the instructions very easy to follow. Try again when you are not tired.
ah! good idea. not NOW then!
ah! good idea. not NOW then!
thank you!
I am a morning person! Are you?
Hi Missus Tribble, congrats on creating a FB fan page! It’s a great idea.
I use my page to curate the valuable information, links and resources that I come across on the web. I also like to share funny motivational posters and images (some I create myself, and others I share from other pages).
I’m using my mobile at the moment, but when I fire up my laptop tomorrow I’ll jump on FB and like your page
Thanks a lot – this is giving me ideas to promote favourite charities and such
Dear Missus Tribble,
I created a Facebook account and a page for the blog but I have no idea how to work the timeline thingy on the page. I always forget to look on Facebook too, I’m rubbish at it.
Love Dotty xxx
Sorry chick I have no idea!
