Epileptic Wave

Surf

As I sleep it lifts me up

Jostling me into wakefulness

Calm at first, a gentle rise and fall

Almost peaceful, and yet disturbed

The first wave buffets me, not too strongly

It carries me with it towards the shore

A second wave catches me, as the first wave breaks

Leaving me spinning in mid-air

This second wave is cruel

It smashes me back against the sand

Where I lie helpless, waiting for the third

Which will cover and drown me in its cold embrace
